Common CT studies
HRCT chest
A chest CT protocol requested for a particular clinical question. Confirm the examination written on the prescription.
CT abdomen and pelvis
Preparation and use of oral or intravenous contrast depend on the study. Ask for personal instructions before travelling.
CT KUB and other studies
Ask about a prescribed kidney/urinary-tract study or another CT examination. Cardiac CT angiography is not available at this centre.
Before your CT appointment
- Bring the prescription, previous relevant imaging and any requested blood reports.
- Tell the team about pregnancy, kidney disease, diabetes medicines and previous contrast reactions.
- Follow the centre’s instructions for food, fluids and medicines; do not stop medicines on your own.
- Ask for a full quote, including contrast or additional study charges if applicable.
Reporting and planning your visit
Most CT scan reports are typically available in about four hours, but some examinations require additional review. Confirm the time for your study and how to obtain the report.
