2D Echo (echocardiography)
Uses ultrasound to assess the heart’s structure and function. Ask about the prescribed examination and appointment; an Echo does not replace every other cardiac test.

Before your appointment
- Bring the prescription, previous cardiac reports and a current medicine list.
- Ask for the preparation instructions for your particular examination. Do not stop medicines without your clinician’s advice.
- Confirm the complete price and whether any additional prescribed study is included.
Reports and urgent symptoms
Ask when the interpreted report will be available. An ECG printout and a completed clinical interpretation are not the same thing; immediate results should not be assumed. The centre will confirm the timing for your test.
For new severe chest pain, marked breathlessness, collapse or other urgent symptoms, seek emergency medical care rather than waiting for a routine diagnostic appointment.
