What to bring
- Your prescription and relevant previous scans or reports.
- A current medicine list and details of any previous contrast reaction.
- The device card or operation information for any implant.
- Any blood-test result the imaging team has requested for this examination.
Tell the team before you arrive
Report pacemakers, defibrillators, implanted pumps, cochlear implants, metal fragments and other implants or devices. The team needs to check the exact device and its MRI conditions; having an implant does not automatically mean that every MRI is unsuitable. Do not enter the scanner room until staff have completed screening and cleared you to proceed. MRI uses a powerful magnetic field, so follow instructions about removing metal and electronic items. Also tell the team about pregnancy or possible pregnancy, kidney problems, previous contrast reactions and anxiety in enclosed spaces.
